Going Back to Gan Eden

"Speak to the children of Israel and say: 'Only keep My Sabbaths! For it is a sign between Me and you throughout your generations" (Exodus 31:13)

Shabbat is called a sign and a symbol of our deep connection to a garden of delight, as our sages tell us that every seventh day we are given a  taste of Gan Eden.    In the painting the candles are in the midst of flowers and rise above them, as we are uplifted into the transformative space of Shabbat. Here in pastoral fields of lyrical and playful color we experience feelings of lightness, freedom and joy,  as all our senses are aroused to the the physical and spiritual pleasures of Shabbat.
